What to Expect

A walkthrough of your first visit to the dojo.

Martial arts is not for everybody, and we want you to have a fair chance to decide for yourself. You're welcome to enjoy one trial session free of charge before committing to regular training.

On the mat, we observe proper etiquette, respect, and discipline. We ask everyone — new and experienced students alike — to arrive on time, in good hygiene, and with good character.

If you have prior injuries or are taking medication, let us know before joining, and consult your doctor first if needed. Our top priority is self-preservation and harmony among members.

Dojo Etiquette

  • Pre-register online and arrive early. If the dojo is in session, sit at the bench and observe proper protocols.
  • Pagpupugay — “Osu” and the Balintawak bow.
  • Essential hygiene: shower before practice, wear deodorant if you can.
  • Always wear your uniform or T-shirt.
  • Safety first — cut your nails and check your practice weapons.
  • Just leave if you can't be in harmony with anyone.
