New Student Guide
How Balintawak training is organized, and how to begin.
How Training Works
Balintawak is traditionally taught through disciplined one-on-one instruction — the agak (guide) walking each student through the material at their own pace. As a new student, you'll begin with the fundamentals: etiquette, how to hold the stick, the 12 basic strikes, balance and footwork, before progressing through the Five Groupings.
You don't need any prior martial arts experience, equipment, or a uniform to start. A single rattan stick and a willingness to learn are enough for your first sessions.
